The Rotary Club of North Bay is an active participant in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program - both Long-Term and Short-Term.

Hannah Bywater (15) will be representing the club for the 2016-2017 program. The country for her exchange will be announced in early February.

Hannah has demonstrated “service above self” since she was about 6.  The Rotary Club of North Bay met her for the first time when she was raising money (I’m sure she’s wasn’t more than 6 at the time) to save sea turtles.  Here’s her website for your interest - http://www.hannahsplanet.ca/hannahs-story.aspx.

In the past couple of years, she has gone on two mission trips – one to Kenya (for 3 weeks by herself when she was 14) and to Costa Rica (again 3 weeks by herself this past summer) to build/repair schools and do work with local communities.  She has been recognized for her efforts – YMCA Peace Medallion award (2010), the youngest recipient to receive the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award (2012), and the Ontario Junior Citizen of the year award by the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Ontario at Queen’s Park (2013).
