Going the Extra Mile for Safety
Mar. 21, 2022 12:00 p.m.
Mark Wilson, Resource Member, GEM Committee [Going the Extra Mile for Safety] will be talking to the club about his pilot project. Going the Extra Mile for Safety was founded in 2015 by the Temiskaming Shores and Area Chamber of Commerce. 2+1 Road Description A 2+1 road consists of 2 lanes in one direction and one lane in the opposite direction with a crash rated physical barrier separating the lanes. The 2+1 profile alternates every 1-4 km which provides passing opportunities on a regular basis for both directions of travel and eliminates inappropriate and dangerous passing manoeuvres. 2+1 roads have significantly reduced fatality and serious injury rates on rural highways in countries where they have been built in large part due to the median barrier which virtually eliminates, high energy, head-on crashes. For more about the committee and the project visit - https://tsacc.ca/gems/ or this media article - https://www.mynorthbaynow.com/86611/2-plus-1-highway-pilot-coming-to-highway-11-north/. Jun. 27, 2022
The club will not be holding it's regular weekly meeting. A fish fry is taking place at Rotary's Camp Tillicum on June 30th at 6:00 pm. |
|
Jun. 30, 2022 6:00 p.m.
Our construction contractor for the Camp Tillicum project has offered us a catered fish fry at the new building as a celebration of completion of construction. This is set for Thursday June 30 at 6:00 pm. All Rotarians and spouses are invited.
Thank you Don Seguin!!
The cost of admission will be a donation of food/cash for the North Bay and Area Food Bank.
Note that rain should not be much of a problem owing to both the new building as well as the generous outdoor porch. It would be a good idea, I think, to bring seating. There are some tables that can be gathered but not likely enough to seat everyone. Bug spray might also be good to bring.
Further details will be provided via email.
NOTE: This event will replace the meeting scheduled for Monday June 27.
