ImageNORTH BAY – Chief Paul Cook, North Bay Police Service, and Andrew Hazlewood, Program Director for the Duke of Edinburgh Program run out of St. Joseph Scollard Hall, were each honoured with a Paul Harris Fellow [PHF] award by the Rotary Club of North Bay and the Rotaract Club of North Bay-Nipissing on Friday evening, for their outstanding service and dedication to the community and abroad. 

Organizing Co-Chair, Yvonne Weir, stated that “This award [PHF] is the highest honour a Rotary club can bestow on an individual, on behalf of The Rotary Foundation, and acknowledges ‘service above self’ by those persons who are selected”.  Weir added “our 2 clubs were very pleased to be able to recognize Paul and Andrew, both outstanding and deserving individuals in our community”. Image

 

 

The Rotaract club, also presented their “Honourary Rotaractor” award for 2013-2014 to Jacques Lacourse, a Rotarian with the North Bay club, for his active role as a liaison and supporter of their club.Image

Unlike past Foundation functions, this year was organized as a 50’s rock and roll dinner and dance, featuring “Freddy Vette and the Flames”, from Belleville Ontario.

The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International enables Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty.  The Foundation’s top priority continues to be the eradication of polio”.
