The Rotary Club of North Bay launched its annual fundraiser, with the help of this year’s Rotary4Kids Ambassador, Gage Colnar (7), a Grade 2 student at St. Hubert’s school, and representatives from the Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth (NADY) and Canadian Tire North Bay today at Canadian Tire on McKeown.Entering its 17th year, the Rotary club, in partnership with NADY, will be holding its radio-a-thon to raise much needed funds in support of area children and youth with special needs.
The longest morning, with 100.5 KiSS morning host Kevin Oschefski, will be broadcast live from Canadian Tire on McKeown Avenue, on Thursday, March 28th and wrap-up with a final morning show breakfast at Burger World on Hammond Avenue on March 29th, from 7-10 am.Donations can be made online now at www.rotary4kids.ca, www.longestmorning.ca or during the broadcast by calling 705-499-3109, or in person at Canadian Tire (Thursday) and Burger World (Friday morning).
Rotary4Kids Chair, Jeff Rogerson, stated “Since its inception, the radio-a-thon has raised just over one million dollars that have gone towards numerous Rotary Children’s Committee projects such as the purchase of assistive devices, home renovations, vehicle conversions, enrollment into various programs, assistance to cover uninsured medical costs and out of town travel and funding for special needs teams, just to name a few”. The committee also provides approximately $30,000 in funding on an annual basis to NADY.
Rotary Club President Steve Wright added, “The success of this fundraiser would not be possible without the very generous support of individuals and families, and so many organizations and businesses, both large and small, in our community”.
