ROTARY CLUB OF NORTH BAY - WEEKLY BULLETIN
October 3, 2025
We had a special surprise set up for our meeting on Sept. 19th.  President Jeff and Bill Hagborg conspired to get Trudy Lang over to our Rotary Splashpad & Playground.  We ended the meeting a bit earlier and Bill drove Trudy very slowly to ensure they were a little delayed so members had a chance to drive over there before Trudy came.  The plan quickly came together and with George at her side, she saw the plaque that was installed on the playground equipment - appropriately named the Lighthouse - dedicated to her!  Thanks to Trudy and George's amazing contributions to the community of North Bay in so many ways, we were able to complete this accessible and specially designed play area.  Trudy truly is a light that shines brightly!  Thank you so much for all you do, Trudy!

We were joined by Oscar Santos via Zoom on Tuesday.  He gave us some great information on the GLP (Guatemala Literacy Program) which our club strongly supports.  We do so much for our local community and this is one international project of so many very deserving ones that our club has taken part in.  Our International Committee continues to support the GLP and WASH programs in Guatemala.  Through the GLP, education is offered to so many children that would otherwise not have the basics of reading, writing but would be set out to work or continue the generational poverty.  Education gives the children a chance at a better future.  We have had several members go on trips to Guatemala to see the GLP results and take part in graduation ceremonies - take some time to talk to the members who have gone to Guatemala and they can tell you what a difference a small amount of funds can do to improve their lives.
