Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful, summery day!
I just came back from the second District Retreat that was held in Wasaga Beach and it was an inspiring day & a half. Well worth the drive down! We had some very open discussions about increasing our Impact, expanding our Reach, enhancing Engagement and ability to Adapt. There were Rotarians who spoke about Foundation and how giving allows clubs to use funds for service projects, Polio Plus update, Membership retention, increase and engagement, Public Image ideas and ways to improve.
We put together almost 200 hygiene packs that will be delivered to various places around the Georgian Bay area plus put together a “portable” Peace Pole.
Lots of ideas from the different clubs / members and learning that smaller size clubs can do amazing things!
I really suggest registering for one of the remaining 4 retreats - District Governor Sandi wanted to try the smaller retreat style conferences and I think it worked really well as with the smaller number of members you were really able to interact and brainstorm some great ideas and suggestions from other clubs.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday, September 30th at Cecil's Brewhouse, Map Room starting at noon. We will have Oscar Santos from the Guatemala Literacy Project give us an update which is perfect considering our monthly theme, Basic Education and Literacy. Join us in person at noon or via Zoom at:
We had the first batch of books delivered for the Santa Fund project we are working on by Literacy Committee Chair, Maurice Switzer and our partners, Dr. Kristen Ferguson delivering workbooks to Lana Mitchell which will be put into the hands of almost 500 families in our community.
Once the committee has a date for putting the Santa Fund hampers together, Chair Maurice will let us know so we can have a great fellowship/service date!
If you would like more information on the committees our club has and what those committees are involved in, please reach out to any board member directly or go onto our Club web site to find out who the committee chair is and speak to them directly. We have many varied committees and there are never too many members! Rotary's rule is and always will be Family first, Work second, Rotary third so if you have a limited amount of time to help, that is not a problem…..whatever time you have to help out would be so greatly appreciated! _____________________________________________________
