We are bringing back the Sgt At Arms position to our meetings! Thank you to Steve Sampson for taking on the role. We know Steve will put #5 of our 5-Way Test into practice. If you don't know what #5 is, ask Steve!
Apologies for our technical issues on Tuesday - we were not able to hear DG Sandi Campbell but hopefully she can have the issues fixed and we will reschedule her talk with our club in near future.
Tuesday's meeting was the committee report meeting which President Jeff will implement once a month and it was an open meeting with great discussions around our various committees. Here are some key takeaways:
when we do a cheque presentation, we should also make an ask back
International Service - if we plan on using any Rotary4Kids funds for support internationally, need to ensure we are transparent to the public that a portion of funds raised will be used outside of community (if we need to for future funding of international projects); increase in budget for the identified programs
Literacy - University of Nipissing is donating $4000 towards the Santa Fund initiative; planning is going great for this important committee but did hit a snag with the Storywalk due to tariffs on the storyboards so looking for alternatives
Camp Tillicum - great news - the remainder of the grant money which was a hold back has come in - congrats, Bob…
Finance - important for every committee to have the budget information in; board will be reviewing budget at the next board meeting and directors will advise the committee chairs once the budget is approved; we have an investment policy which the board will be reviewing as well (potentially about $4000 annually in interest)
Jeff C talked about the good work of Shelterbox and increase to Membership budget
marketing/public relations has a budget and is in place to assist all committees
Youth services - 6 RYLA students sponsored by our club; going to try to get youth exchange going again….
We presented a donation to North Bay Regional Health Centre in the amount of $15,000 towards a new transport ventilator. It was great to have Henry Drenth able to join us and chat with him.
We do need another director for the board - Community Service 2 which covers the following committees needs a director - Literacy, Rotary4Kids, Environment, Children's Committee & Signature Project. If you would like to join the board or wanted more information on this, please let President Jeff know.

6 District Retreats are happening this year instead of one District Conference - this is a new concept and the organizing committee needs someone from our club to help out with the organizing. If you are able to help, this would be for the Little Current retreat on Sept. 13-14 please let either Jeff Hobbs or myself know.
Don't forget to register for the District Retreat - you can register for any one you wish to attend (or more if you wanted to visit with Rotary friends from other clubs). Here is the web site to visit: https://district7010conference.com/ for all the information.
