Happy Sunday! Hope your weekend is going well so far and you are able to enjoy the “milder” weather while it is here.
Our guest speaker on Tuesday was Dr. Carol Zimbalatti, Medical Officer of Health for Nipissing Parry Sound. Her presentation and talk sparked a lot of discussion with our group and she followed up with the links to:
Planet Youth Nipissing and
Basics Nipissing Parry Sound. Several members were very interested in learning more, and these resources will be helpful as we explore ways Rotary and individual members may be able to support or participate in this important work. We will connect again in the future.

Sgt. At Arms Steve Sampson talked about the RotaryClub of Toba, Japan. Two years ago, to mark the club’s 60th anniversary, they launched an ocean education program titled“70% Water Planet,” inviting children to explore the future of our oceans. Our meeting on Tuesday, January 20th will be a great way to get to know a few of our newer members. We will have vocational talks and after the talks, we will have a Club Assembly. Please join us either in person or via Zoom for this meeting to hear from our newest members and to have a voice to any questions/concerns you may have about the Club &/or Rotary.

Our annual Great Student Awards will be taking place on February 10th in The Grande. Come out and celebrate the amazing students from our local high schools that exemplify Service Above Self and (hopefully) future Rotarians! Hear the stories of how they have impacted their community and continue to make a difference!

We are still looking for one or two members that are able to give about 2 hours of their time Thursday mornings to deliver Bingo envelopes to retailers in North Bay. The delivery window is starting at 9 and usually finishes up by 11. If you are able to help out, you would be looking at a maximum of 6 deliveries between now and end of June so roughly once a month. Please let either Jeff Serran or Grace Doiron know if you can help out the Bingo committee.

Ghislaine Cote, Bill Hagborg, Yvonne Taylor and Grace Doiron will be going to the Dominican Republic for a Rotary humanitarian trip in February. We are still collecting donations towards various projects that will be happening when we are there. We will be working every day from 8 - 4 helping to make the lives of some very poor families better through various projects such as completing the work on the schoolhouse that started last year, medical and dental aid, nutrition, sanitation and most importantly, we develop relationships with the people there so they know they are loved and that there are people that care. If you are able to donate, please contact either one of us and you can also get a tax receipt for your donation. If you wanted more information on the work HHART does, here is a link:

It was announced at a previous meeting that our club is back in the game for Rotary's Youth Exchange Program. Our club had some amazing exchange students in the past but with COVID the program had stopped. We are so pleased to have a student chosen - Tala Woodhouse. She is a student at Chippewa High School and enjoys cooking, canoeing, hunting, colouring, reading and badminton. She volunteers as a gymnastics coach as well as being a member of the Indigenous Youth Council. We are looking for 2-3 families to act as host families for the exchange student we will be taking. If you or someone you know, would be able to take on a 3 month role in this incredible Rotary program, please contact either Bill Hagborg, Gisele Lynch or Grace Doiron. We can go through the details and any questions you may have. The host family does not have to be a Rotary member.

Thank you for all you do!
