This week, I encourage each of us to reach out to a member we haven’t seen recently and simply let them know they were missed. It is one small way we can demonstrate that connection and belonging truly matter to us.

On Tuesday, July 28th Bill H and I were given a tour of the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and had a chance to spend some time with Moka - she is the Trauma Support Dog with Victim Services of Nipissing District.  We learned how Moka supports children, youth and families and the special care that is given to the children that need it most at some very critical and traumatizing times of their lives.  To find out more information on this service, see the link below the picture.

Our club supports Moka for her financial expenses which helps offset the funds needed to run this very important service.

There is a special ask from Wil Zufelt, Rotarian from St. Thomas club.

Wil's son will be in his final year at Nipissing University and had a room arranged for September and a few weeks in December but the arrangements fell through.  He is looking for accomodation for this time period. This is not an ask for “free” - he is quite prepared to pay for somewhere with access to a shower, safe place to do his homework and sleep for this short period.  If anyone can help out our fellow Rotarian, please contact Wil Zufelt at wil@railworks.ca if you or someone you know can help out.

Ready for School Fair…..

President Jeff sent out an email on July 29 regarding the upcoming United Way “Ready for School” Fair.  Please reach out to either President Jeff or Tamika Daniels if you are able to volunteer an hour or two at this event.  We will have a booth set up and be there to talk about all the Children's Programs our club is involved with to help in our community. Hopefully you can spare an hour or two from 4 - 7 PM at the Elmwood Hub at 140 Elmwood Ave. on August 13th!

What is it?
Every year, the NBACF holds its primary fundraising event: a prestigious annual dinner spotlighting the impact of the Foundation funds and fundholders, as well as the charities who received grants. This dinner features a full-course catered meal, a presentation and video from the NBACF Board, a fantastic silent auction, and a competitive live auction to finish the night. Guests from local charities, businesses, the political sphere, and local clubs all come together to celebrate another great year of impact and philanthropy in our community. This year will be the 12th Annual Foundation Dinner.

When and Where is it?
This year’s dinner will take place on Friday, October 2nd at the Grande Event Centre, 192 Main Street East. The event will start at 5:00pm.

Interested in join our Rotary table of ten? Please RSVP to Bill Hagborg (bhagborg77@gmail.com). Tickets are $175 each, which includes a $100 tax receipt. We will provide the online portal link to then purchase your tickets.
