WEEKLY BULLETIN
December 13, 2024

December is a magical time filled with celebration and joy, but for some, it can also be challenging. It’s a season that invites us to slow down amidst the hustle and reflect on the power of meaningful connections.
I want to challenge you to not be so busy you can't be present in the moment.  Kindness is free.  Kindness benefits us all! A small act of kindness can make a world of difference.
Here are a few ways to spread kindness:
- Check In: Reach out to someone who might be struggling this season.
- Be Generous: Whether it’s your time, a thoughtful gift, or simply kind words,
- Create Moments: Share meals, volunteer together, or simply enjoy the presence of loved ones.

Let’s remember the heart of this season: connection, compassion, and community.

On Monday, December 16th we will have our Christmas Program.  Trudy has planned our day with songs and, of course, a little play to put on for members to join in.

There will be no Zoom on Monday so please do come in person to enjoy this day.  Cecil's Map Room at noon.

Please bring in an item to donate to the Joy Project as shown below.

A few members had the pleasure of attending the "Building Community and Acting for Peace" reception on Wednesday.  This is the annual YMCA Peace Medal award which honours individuals or groups that demonstrate a commitment to the values of peace through contributions made within their local, national or global communities.  This is held by all YMCA's across Canada.  The YMCA Peace Medal started in 1987 by a small group of volunteers in Fredericton and to date, more than 1950 individuals and groups across Canada have been recognized for their peacebuilding work.

This year, Jeff Hobbs was awarded the Peace Medal.  Here is an excerpt from a local paper:  "Jeff Hobbs is the president-elect of the North Bay Rotary Club and has spent many years giving back to his community. Hobbs chairs Rotary4Kids, a celebrated fundraiser that supports special needs children. He has also spent years volunteering at the YMCA helping children and families access programs".

Congratulations, Jeff.

Another recipient was a not for profit called "The Joy Project".  This is a community initiative dedicated to supporting youth and families in the Nipissing and Parry Sound regions in need during the holiday season.  They have been invited to speak to our Club in future.  I have attached below a snapshot of some of the items they are collecting for families in need here in North Bay so I would ask if you could bring items listed below and Nicole Beatty will have a box to take the items and drop off with the Joy Project people.
