Happy Halloween!  Looks like a great night for the children - won't need their snowsuits under their costumes!

Please invite friends and family to take part in this annual program to remember and thank those that worked and continue to work to keep our country safe.  Also consider inviting and covering the lunch for a Veteran to join us for the program .... what a great way to say Thank You...

We had Michelle Ainger who volunteers as part of the Fundraising Committee at North Bay YMCA.  She presented us with the details on their annual Fill The Bus Campaign and how this campaign helps to fund the camp.  For more information, please visit the web site.

Our club had been very involved previously in one of the best programs Rotary International has - Youth Exchange.  Due to COVID, the program stopped and we have not had any involvement in this amazing program for over 5 years.  We are trying to revitalize the program and we have three local high schools that we will be going to do presentations as well as an open to the public information night we had on Wednesday.  I truly believe we need to get this program back into our Club.  It has been said that the Youth Exchange program is very much a tool to promote peace in this world.  If you are able to host an incoming student or know of someone who can, please contact either Bill Hagborg, Gisele Lynch or myself.  Please take a minute to go to the web site and see what impact this program has made on some of the students that have posted a testimonial.

One of the amazing things our Club does is to support worthwhile causes.  We were extremely happy to have Kevin O attend our meeting and be presented with a cheque to support his Walk for the Cure.  Kevin was walking from Sudbury Cancer Treatment Centre to North Bay in support of raising funds towards cancer cure.  He was walking for his wife who is going through cancer treatment now.

One final reminder - your board of directors are working to keep our club relevant in the community.  We need to ensure we talk about Rotary and what we do - in the community both local and international - to people we meet everyday.  There are many people who still either have not heard of Rotary or think we are some strange group of people...... some "secret society".  You may laugh but I have heard it myself.....  So... my ask is two things - please be proud of being a North Bay Rotary Club Rotarian and let people know why!  If you are travelling around North Bay or even out of the country, let people know about Rotary.

Second ask - we have our Annual General Meeting scheduled for Dec. 9th - this is a very important meeting for two reasons - BDO accounting firm will be on hand to go over our financial picture and second, we will have elections for the upcoming year.  We have a great slate of board members now that have been doing amazing work for your Club and if you are interested in coming onto the board please do either submit your nomination or nominate someone you think would be a great addition to the team!  If you would like a voice on how your Club is doing and moving forward, step up and be part of the planning!

Hope you have a great weekend and see you on Monday!  Thank you for all you do!
