ROTARY CLUB OF NORTH BAY - WEEKLY BULLETIN
November 1, 2025
Our meeting on October 28th was a “Membership Lunch” where many of our members invited non-Rotarians to hear about Rotary. We had one member sitting at each table to talk about Rotary.  We had a great afternoon!  Thank you to Jamie from Average Joe's for a fantastic meal, Trudy for the Monster Mash and Halloween decor. We are hoping to increase our membership by 2-4 from this event alone!  We were also pleased to present the “Big Cheque” to St. Brice's Anglican Church to help fund their Teen Lunch program.

Many of our members have been involved in the delivery of funds to the various school boards in our community.  4 out of 5 have been delivered and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.  Teachers and administrators have been sharing stories of the impact a little food can make in a child's life!

Earlier in the year, we had a visit from Chewie and Gillian MacIntosh from Victim Services.  Chewie is a support dog and Gillian is his handler.  Chewie was having some unexpected medical issues and the board agreed to increase the coverage for his vet bills by $1500 to ensure he was able to perform the work that he so loves and is so well trained for.  He is doing much better and back to work. We had a very nice email come back from Victim Services and I wanted to share a bit of the email with you:

"I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous decision to increase funding for the Trauma Support Dog Program. Your continued commitment and belief in this initiative make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children we serve. We’re proud to have the Rotary Club of North Bay as a valued partner in this important work."  ______________________________________________________________

Please note that the meeting coming up will be our annual Remembrance Day Program.  The meeting will take place on MONDAY, November 3rd at noon. November is a special time of the year as we celebrate our Rotary Foundation and the impact that we are having around the world.  And our impact is significant!  During the 2024–2025 Rotary year, our Rotary Foundation raised over $569 million in gifts and commitments. This total surpassed our ambitious fundraising goal of $500 million for the year. The fundraising highlights for 2024–2025 include:

Total funds raised:

  • Over $569 million was collected through donations and pledges.
  • Programs funded: Rotary and Rotaract clubs were able to fund thousands of projects around the world addressing challenges related to disease, clean water, peace, education, and economic development.
  • Global Grants: 1,424
  • District Grants: 468
  • Disaster Response Grants: 74
  • Endowment milestone: The foundation exceeded its $2.025 billion by 2025.
  • Major partnership: A new agreement with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was renewed to continue the collaborative fight to end polio.
  • Programs of Scale grant: The Pathways to Peace and Prosperity in Colombia initiative was selected for a Programs of Scale grant. The program aims to strengthen conflict resolution capacity in affected areas.

Our Rotary Foundation’s financial achievements in 2024–2025 were made possible by our global network of supporters, whose contributions fund humanitarian projects and international aid.

For the 17th consecutive year, our Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating of four stars from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S.  This is an accomplishment of which to be very proud.  I thank you for supporting our Rotary Foundation programs as we are truly “Doing Good in the World” every day. _____________________________________________________
