The Zone Conference took place in Winnipeg for Zones 28 & 32. This meant the meeting up of Rotary Clubs from both Canada and USA. The focus was on support to the incoming District Governors as well as updates on Foundation, Polio Plus and so much more! There were so many great sessions talking about the work Rotary is doing in Peace, the fight against Polio, Truth and Reconciliation, Foundation and so much more. I met some wonderful Rotarians from all across Canada and parts of the USA.
Our meeting on Tuesday, September 23rd is at Cecil's Brewhouse, Map Room starting at noon. We will be holding our monthly committee meeting so please ensure if you are a committee chair to contact your committee members to come out for the meeting. Friday, September 26th will be the second annual Capitol Centre Night at the Battalion game when the Troops take on the Ottawa 67’s. As the two largest entertainment venues in the city, we are thrilled to be partnering with the Battalion, and we’d love to fill the arena with Capitol Centre supporters! Bill Hagborg has volunteered for this in the past and will be promoting on our social media. Nipissing Club is looking for 1-2 of our members might be interested in helping out on October 1st for the Stem Cell donor registration event. Kevin-O’s walk for the cure. Last year Kevin O walked 129 kms from the Cancer Center in Sudbury to North Bay. Every step taken was to raise money and awareness and to stand with those battling breast cancer. It was supposed to be a one time event… but Kevin is doing it again… It’s KEVIN O’S ONE MORE WALK
Last week, our club received some great support from Northern Credit Union towards our Literacy Committee for the books we will be purchasing for the Santa Fund. Keep an eye out for a date in the near future when we can help out with stuffing the packages with these specially selected books! This was a wonderful gift from Northern Credit Union!
