Our Monday meeting was one of the high points for our club. We had a chance to hear about the incredible students from our local schools and they were celebrated well. Thank you to Krista for taking on this event and it was great to see Henry join us. There were many great stories of what the students had done to be nominated as Great Students and all very deserving.
Our Youth Exchange student, Tala Woodhouse introduced herself and she is so excited to be going to Taiwan for her exchange! Can't wait to hear about her trip when she returns. We have not heard who our incoming exchange student will be but as soon as that is announced, we will let you know. Please do consider being a host family - we do need your support with this!
Monday March 16th meeting will be an offsite meeting to visit the HANDS autism services office for a tour of the new youth lounge that our club supported. A light lunch will be offered.
NAME TAGS…..as announced via email and in previous bulletins, we should all have our name tags on for the meetings and when we are representing Rotary in the community. There will be a storage box for name tags so if you wish to keep it in the Map Room, we can do that. Please let Jeff Celentano know if you are missing your name tag and need to order one or just want to have a second one to keep in the car with you….. please do wear your name tag to all meetings!
Plans are coming together for our 24th annual radio-a-thon fundraiser. Please come out to our Media Launch at the YMCA , on Friday, March 20th at 11 AM. We will be introducing this year’s R4K’s Ambassador, Presnel (6), from École publique Héritage.
The Y is also holding a free Sensory Swim from 10:30 am to noon that day, with donations going to R4K’s. Sensory swims provide a peaceful, low-stimulation environment tailored for neurodivergent individuals and those with sensory sensitivities. Featuring reduced noise (no music, limited whistle use) and available calming toys, these sessions offer a relaxing space for families and individuals, including those with autism or ADHD.
We will be sharing updates in our weekly bulletins leading up to the big event and targeted emails looking for members to volunteeran hour or two of their time.
President Jeff sent out an email regarding an opportunity for our club to make a meaningful impact in our community. This is the 10th annual menstrual hygiene campaign. Please help out by bringing to our meetings for the next few weeks the following:
Financial donations are also appreciated so if there is a shortage in an area, the donations will go to fill that void. Product donations provide immediate access to essential hygiene supplies.
Financial contributions strengthen the broader Period Promise initiative, supporting advocacy, education and distribution systems.
Thank you to our member, Tamika Daniels, for bringing this great opportunity to our club. Your support will directly help people in our community—whether they are living in poverty, fleeing domestic violence, or simply don’t have access to hygiene products. Let’s see what we can accomplish together!
No birthdays or anniversaries to announce for this coming week but as a reminder, if your birthday or anniversary has not been celebrated, it could be because it is not listed in Clubrunner! Please let either President Jeff or Membership Chair, Jeff Celentano know and we can get that updated for you!
Good news to hear that Colin Thacker's surgery went well and he is now home. It is a long road to full recovery so keep up the exercise, Colin and see you back soon.
