Weekly Bulletin - Monday April 24th meeting

We had Damilola Ateja Morenike, Maternal & Child Health Project from Nigeria visit our club via Zoom to talk about the challenges they face in Nigeria as well as the plans to help improve the health care for pregnant women and babies.  If anyone would like to see her presentation, please do let me know as she did send us a copy.  I know the connection was not the greatest and the sound was not coming through clearly so she did share her presentation.

We are celebrating 100 years of Rotary in North Bay with two public events - the Flag Raising Ceremony is taking place on May 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM.  Please come out to North Bay City Hall.  We are also having an open to the public birthday celebration on July 15 at the Splash Pad - fun and treats for all!  Please come out with your Rotary shirts & be there to talk up Rotary to the public.  The Rotaract Club has enlisted a face painter for the children (young & young at heart) plus the YMCA staff has agreed to help with some activities as well.

We have partnered with all 3 Clubs for the celebrations so members from Rotaract and Nipissing Clubs will be on hand as well.  Nipissing Club is working on a tri-club social so stay tuned for those details.

If you do not have your 100th Anniversary shirts, hats, etc. please contact Jeff Celentano.  He is taking orders .... don't miss out on the specially designed line of products to showcase our 100 years of service in the community.

Reminder - we would like to know of people in our community that demonstrate the Rotary principle of Service Above Self - please do let the Foundation Committee or myself know of anyone that is deserving of a Paul Harris nomination.  It can be anyone - we have some amazing people here in North Bay that do great things so let us give them some recognition for their work.

Our Club supports so many local events and we received a letter from Jackson Loewen who won the Rotary Club of North Bay Community Impact Award at the North Bay Regional Science Fair thanking us for the sponsorship.  His goal was to find a way to increase food production in an aquaponics system and he worked on increasing the germination rate of lettuce seeds.  Congratulations to Jackson!
