Our Youth Exchange student, Olaia, has settled in with her first host family who happen to be the family of our outbound Youth Exchange student, Tala, who is in Taiwan. She says she is doing great and if she is able to attend Monday's meeting can tell you about her experience at the Powwow that Maurice Switzer had taken her to last weekend. She will be at the Welcome to North Bay event that is happening today from 12-3 so stop by the Rotary booth and definitely visit the other booths at the Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens.

Community Clean-Up at Rotary Camp Tillicum
Date: Friday, September 18
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: Rotary Camp Tillicum
Whether you can lend a hand for the whole morning or simply want to spend some time outdoors connecting with others and doing something positive for our community, we’d love to have you join us.
Together, we can help care for a place that creates so many meaningful experiences for YMCA campers each summer and ensure we leave it ready to rest for the winter.
If you’d like to participate, please RSVP (to ensure enough food is prepared) to mikayla.hobbs@ymcaneo.ca
We hope to see you there!

Something to keep in mind that is very important to the future of our club - the Annual General Meeting is coming up in December and we normally hold elections at that meeting. Please think about taking on a role on the board or nominating a fellow member to help shape the future of our club. Yes, this would involve some extra time for board meetings and issues affecting the governance of our club but so important to the succession planning / future of the club. Please do take the time to think about taking on a more involved role.
The board will also be looking for nominations for the John Lewis Memorial Rotarian of the Year award so keep in mind a member that you think would be deserving of this award and get your nomination in to any board member.

I read this in another club's bulletin and thought it was something worth sharing:
Mahatma Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Service often begins simply by paying attention to the needs around us. This week, volunteer for one task, big or small. Every contribution matters, and together, those small acts can make a meaningful difference.
