WEEKLY BULLETIN
November 5, 2024

We had two members of 22 Wing come out to give us an update and some history.   Major James McGuigan, Deputy Commanding Officer 21 Aerospace Control and Master Sergeant Roanne Suyosa, Acting Senior Enlisted Leader, Detachment 2, First Air Force and RCAF 22 Wing Mission Support - Thank you for your service and your presentations.

We will be looking at booking a tour of the Museum in the coming months so keep an eye out for when that date is firmed up - it should be very interesting!

Thank you to Marc Bourbeau, Retired Warrant Officer, for giving our members the meaning of the Fallen Soldier Table.  I think it was a very moving description of what each of the items on the table represented.

Thank you to Trudy for the wonderful music - having you there really made the program come alive.

Thank you to Colin for all the work you did to prepare for this program and I was happy to see representatives from the Nipissing Club join us as well.

With Monday, November 11th being Remembrance Day, there will be no meeting.  I know many will be going to various Remembrance Day programs so our next meeting will be on Monday, November 18th.

The meeting on November 18th was to take place at Camp Tillicum but we have had to reschedule the Camp Tillicum to another date to be advised in future.

We have booked Average Joe's in lieu of Camp Tillicum for Monday at noon.  Average Joe's has ample parking both down below which will take you directly to the meeting room plus parking up top as well.  The address is 3501 Trout Lake Rd.  There will be Zoom available as well.  We will have David Tisch give us an update on Polio via Zoom.  Here is the Zoom information:

You can change a child's life - help fill the bus with kids to camp!
The Rotary Club of North Bay and the YMCA are partnering to ensure all local kids - regardless of their economic background - have the opportunity to enjoy amazing camp experiences.  For some families, camp registration fees are only one barrier. Funds raised through the YMCA Fill the Bus campaign will help cover the cost of registration, running shoes, sleeping bags and other camp supplies, as well as camp equipment and upgrades. It’s not an exaggeration to say your donation will help change the lives of local kids by giving them this incredible opportunity to spread their wings and develop new skills in the safe and supportive environment of camp.

For each $275 raised, a kid will be added to the bus!  Donate Today: fillthebus.ca

Also, please note this:  Average Joe's has committed to hosting two fundraising nights - November 7th and November 21st where a portion of all sales will be in support of the YMCA Fill the Bus campaign.  There will be a camp-themed brunch and dinner menu which will be offered throughout November to support the campaign as well.  Check out Average Joe's and help support Fill the Bus!

The Club Council meeting is planned for January 13, 2025 - please think of ideas of what we can do to improve our Club - ideas for service projects in the area; should we change the meeting dates to a different day of the week; should we change our meeting venue - these are just some of the ideas that have been talked about so please think of things that you would like to see changed or added - we need to ensure you are engaged and that the meetings are relevant - let us know how we can make that happen......

We have a few members attending the District Conference this weekend so will give you some of the highlights at the meeting on the 18th.  See  you at the Nottawasaga!

I will be away from November 17 - December 3rd in the Dominican Republic for a HHART trip.  I will have an update on things down there for you when I return.  Things are looking pretty grim for many in the bateys down there.
